3 most important take “always” ideas or concepts:
-Digital Citizen was an important concept we learned about. Digital Citizen is one of the ISTE student standards. We learned what makes a good digital citizen and how important it is to teach our students about how to be good digital citizens. Digital Citizenship is defined by the ISTE Student Standards as those who use technology to make their community better, treat those online with opposing beliefs in a respectful manner, use technology to make their voice heard by public leaders, and determine reliable online sources.
-The most important concept we learned about in my opinion was professionalism on the internet. Our presence online can really affect everything in our lives. Most schools provide acceptable use policies for teachers using social media and these are really important to follow.
-Lastly, it’s important to allow opportunities for discussions/activities about Digital Citizenship in class. There are many resources on the internet to help implement it into curriculum in the classroom.
2 resources/concepts that had the biggest impact on me:
-BrainPOP spotlight Digital Citizen: I thought this resource was very useful in the classroom. It covered 20 topics ranging from online safely, cyber bullying, copyright, and plagiarism. Each topic included videos, activities, games, worksheets and more. https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.brainpop.com%2Fsearch%2F%3Fkeyword%3DDigital%2BCitizenship&data=04%7C01%7C%7Cdf93133b14d04ff342d008d982cbbd99%7Ce3fefdbef7e9401ba51a355e01b05a89%7C0%7C0%7C637684633965479448%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000&sdata=B8PqhxZR6fazN9cWUX6U%2B6oj6OIxCutwzucfpapaTg8%3D&reserved=0
-The second resource I enjoyed was a blog by the global digital citizen foundation. This resource really had everything I could possibly need to learn about digital digital citizenship. It had a link to a quiz that gives you an estimate of your own digital footprint which I found very useful. I am currently doing my field hours for one of my courses and it’s not more important than ever to focus on my digital footprint and professionalism in social media. https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fglobaldigitalcitizen.org%2F30-digital-citizenship-resources%3Fmc_cid%3Df41193c13e%26mc_eid%3D1ad8771497&data=04%7C01%7C%7Caa35270756cf45c4380e08d982cd3e88%7Ce3fefdbef7e9401ba51a355e01b05a89%7C0%7C0%7C637684641027730578%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000&sdata=8Os7XrQmsr9s0pI3Qc130jQBkxDItdpFcCV3V79yPfQ%3D&reserved=0
